That's a 1/4 inch trowel for stamping.

Actually, that looks more like a 1/4 inch notched trowel for spreading adhesive. A stamping trowel is usually flat, without any teeth. You'd use this one to lay down thinset for tile or something similar. The teeth make a ridge pattern so the stuff sticks better. Mixing up the tools is an easy mistake to make though.
