Spent $40 on a magnesium float and it saved a big driveway pour
Had a 30 yard driveway pour last month outside Phoenix and the heat was killing us. I grabbed a magnesium float on a whim at the supply house cause my buddy said it helps with light rain marks. That thing smoothed out the surface way faster than my regular steel float. Has anyone else had good luck with magnesium in hot weather pours?

Did you try running the mag float wet or dry? Ive heard mixed things about whether you gotta keep it misted or just let it ride in that dry heat. I ask cause I had a buddy try one in Vegas last summer and he said it dragged like hell until he started dipping it in water between passes. But then another guy told me never wet a mag float cause it messes with the surface cream. Just curious what actually worked for you on that pour.

Yeah but your buddy in Vegas was probably burning his cream before he even floated it. Dry heat changes everything. I run mag floats dry 100% of the time. That whole dipping it in water between passes thing, I get why people try it but all it does is drag moisture into the surface and trap it under the cream. Then you get these cloudy spots that show up a week later. You gotta trust the float to do its job without babysitting it with water. If its dragging you're either moving too slow or the cream wasn't set right to begin with.
