Appreciation post: That time a flat earther actually changed my mind about chemtrails

I used to laugh at chemtrail people, thought they were all nuts. Then a guy at a coffee shop in Portland last year showed me a 2015 NOAA report about atmospheric aerosol testing. I checked the source myself and found out the government really does spray stuff from planes for weather modification. It's not mind control or whatever, but the base claim that there's deliberate spraying turned out to be true. Has anyone else had a conspiracy debunk turn into a partial confirmation?

My buddy Matt had a similar thing happen with the moon landing. He was all about the conspiracy theories for years, totally convinced it was faked. Then he watched some documentary that went through the actual science of the radiation belts and the engines and stuff. Ended up realizing the engineering was way more believable than the government keeping that many people quiet for 50 years. Now he thinks about half the conspiracies are just people not understanding how complicated things actually are.
