inPaid for a 'lifetime' VPN subscription that vanished after 8 months
Blake's right about reviews from the last few months being key, I got burned by a VPN that had great old reviews but zero from the past year. Looking for a physical address is solid advice too, I start by googling the company name plus "scam" or "complaint" to see if anything sketchy pops up. Checking a site like Reddit or Trustpilot for recent drops in activity usually tells you if they're about to vanish.

inThat old security guard was right about not using wireless sensors in commercial buildings
Yeah I gotta push back a little on that. My experience running a small warehouse operation says modern wireless tech has come a long way in the last few years. We put in some Zigbee based temp and humidity sensors near big HVAC units and electric forklift charging stations and they've been rock solid for almost two years now. Your mileage may vary depending on what kind of industrial gear you're talking about, but a lot of the newer sensors use frequency hopping and mesh networking that handles interference way better than the old stuff. Hardwired is definitely still bulletproof if you've got the budget and the time to run conduit everywhere, but for retrofits or smaller operations the wireless options work fine. I'd say test a few units in your specific setup before writing them off completely.

inHired a social media agency that promised 10k followers in 30 days
Man I feel this so hard. You said "follower counts mean nothing" and that's exactly right. I had almost the same thing happen with my auto shop last year, paid $2k for a package that promised huge growth and ended up with a bunch of ghost accounts that never even liked a single post. What actually worked for me was just posting before and after photos of actual cars I worked on, using local hashtags, and engaging with people in my city's Facebook groups. It took longer but now I get real customers coming in saying they saw my work on Instagram, not just random bot followers.

inI hit $100 a month in grocery savings just by switching stores
That store brand salsa struggle is real, man. For me it was this specific garlic aioli from a local deli that basically made my sandwiches feel complete and now I'm just eating plain turkey like some kind of animal.

inOld timer at Local 647 told me my bevel was all wrong...
That 1/8 land on 1/2 inch plate is more forgiving for the root pass, I'll give him that. But some guys swear by a slightly longer land if you're running a hot enough amp to burn it in proper (especially on vertical up). Good on you for taking the advice though, most old timers have earned their stripes even if they sometimes oversimplify things.
