Dropped $300 on a tactical flashlight. Battery died in 20 minutes.

Bought this fancy SureFire thing for night hikes. First real use in the woods near Ashland and it dimmed out fast. Anyone else get burned by gear that looks tough but fails when you need it?

Actually that 20 minute runtime is a red flag for a real SureFire. Sounds like you might have gotten a knockoff or a counterfeit. The real ones are supposed to last way longer, like an hour or two on high. I'd double check the markings and see if the serial number matches up on their website. Plus, those batteries need to be fresh lithium CR123As, not old ones from a drawer. If it really is genuine, you can send it back to SureFire for a warranty fix. They're usually pretty good about that sort of thing.

60 minutes minimum on a real SureFire, @river_rivera45.
