The moon landing tapes theory unraveled for me after one afternoon at the Johnson Space Center archive

I went to Houston back in March for a family thing and we did the tour. I always figured the whole 'tapes were wiped' angle meant something fishy. But we got to see the actual backup footage, the slow scan copies, and the guy explaining it said they never lost the original telemetry data. It was just stored on this massive reel system that they had to convert. Once I saw how much gear was involved, the whole idea that they'd fake it and then accidentally erase the proof just felt silly. Has anyone else had a conspiracy they held onto that fell apart when you saw the physical equipment or paperwork up close?
