Shoutout to the instructor who told me to stop cutting wet, I burned 4 clients before I got it
I used to trim hair right out of the shower because I thought wet hair gave me more control, and I stuck with that for 3 years. Then last June a client named Dana in my chair at the salon in Tucson pointed at the little flyaway halo around her crown and said it was worse after every cut I gave her. I started checking my own work dry the next day and saw splits up and down the ends I thought looked clean, because wet strands hide the damage until they snap back. So now I rough cut damp, dry it fully, and do the real shaping on dry hair, and my rebooking rate went up without me changing anything else. Anyone here still cutting fully wet on fine hair, or did your school teach it the other way too?
