Thought those $50 hair oil treatments were a scam, then I tried one at a salon in Austin

Ngl, I’ve been doing hair for about 4 years now and I always rolled my eyes at those fancy oil treatments clients would drop cash on. I figured it was just marketing hype and regular conditioner does the same thing. Then last month, a customer brought in her own bottle of some argan-based oil mix from a local shop and begged me to use it after her color. I did a deep treatment with it under heat for 20 minutes, and her hair came out so soft and shiny I was honestly shocked. It wasn’t greasy at all, and it held up for like 3 washes before fading. Now I’m rethinking my whole stance on specialty oils. Has anyone else here had a product change their mind after being skeptical for years?

My hair is basically a tangled mess on a good day, so I've always figured expensive treatments would just be wasted on this mop. After reading this, I might have to try a little sample size of something before I totally write them off again. Your mileage may vary but I'm now cautiously curious, which is as optimistic as I get about haircare.

My friend Jess tried one of those fancy sample masks and her hair went from looking like a birds nest to actually being brushable. She was so mad it actually worked lol. Worth a shot with a mini size for sure.
