Hot take: I think boom angle sensors are overrated on older rigs
My 2002 Liebherr LTM 1050 had the boom angle sensor fail last Tuesday on a job outside Tulsa. I ran the rest of the shift using manual calculations and a digital level from Harbor Freight. The sensor was just making me lazy about knowing my actual angles. Has anyone else ditched a sensor and gone back to basics on a vintage crane?

Best fix I've found is a good bubble level taped to the boom.

Pulled the sensor off my 2000 Link-Belt last spring after it kept giving false readings. Now I just trust my bubble level and a cheap angle finder, honestly haven't missed it one bit.
