Just found out my crane boom can twist more than I thought
So I was reading the manual for our Liebherr LTM 1050 the other day and stumbled on a fact that blew my mind. The boom twist tolerance is way higher than I ever guessed, like up to 3 degrees under certain loads without being a safety issue. I always assumed any twist meant something was wrong or rigging was off. Found this in a tech bulletin from 2018 that I never bothered to look at before. Has anyone else checked their specific model's specs and found something that surprised you?

Whoa, hold up. I gotta disagree hard with this take. Sure the manual says 3 degrees is fine but I've seen small twists turn into big problems real fast when conditions change. Ngl, being "chill" about twist action sounds like a recipe for getting lazy with your rigging.

Stumbled on something similar for my Tadano a few years back, total eye opener. I was double-checking the load charts for a sketchy pick we had lined up and saw the twist allowance noted in the fine print. Made me realize I'd been way too paranoid about small shifts in the load. Now I'm way more chill about a little twist action, as long as it's within the numbers. Funny how you can run a machine for years and still not know all its tricks lol.
