Looked at my logbook and saw I've lifted exactly 1,000,000 tons over my career. That number hit me hard.

Read somewhere that the average person lifts about 10 tons a year just living life. That puts your number in crazy perspective.

That "crazy perspective" from jade226 really nails it. I used to see those big numbers and just think about machines doing the work. But a million tons is a different thing. That's like lifting the weight of an entire cargo ship, by hand, over years. Makes you respect the sheer physical grind of the job in a whole new way.
