Saw the difference after swapping to synthetic cable on a 50 ton in Atlanta
I ran the same 50 ton Grove for 3 years with standard wire rope. Swapped to synthetic slings last month on a high rise job downtown. After 60 picks over 2 weeks, the drum wear was way less and I wasn't fighting birdcaging. Any of you guys made the switch and seen the same thing?

Heard that loud and clear. I did the same thing on a 50 ton Grove a few years back and the difference was night and day. The synthetic stuff just doesn't fight you like wire rope does on those tight drums, especially when you're stacking multiple layers. Less birdcaging and broken wires means way less downtime swapping out slings too. Plus I noticed the synthetic runs quieter on the sheaves, which was a nice bonus when you're working near office buildings all day.

Yeah the noise thing is real. I swapped a crane over on a school site and the parents actually noticed the difference. Plus less wear on the sheaves long term since synthetics don't bite into them the same way.
