Showerthought: I always picked the 150-ton for big lifts, but a 100-ton with a longer boom worked better last week.
We were setting HVAC units on a roof in Portland, and the extra reach saved us a reposition. Anyone else find themselves using a smaller crane for reach over raw capacity?

So you're telling me the secret to a big lift is just having a really long stick? Guess I've been overpaying for muscle when I just needed a good stretch.

We had to set a 12-ton chiller behind a building in Seattle with serious overhead lines. Our 80-ton with a 140-foot main boom got it done from the street. The 120-ton we first priced would have needed a full close down of the road to get in position. That longer boom on a smaller truck crane saved us a fortune in permits and lane rental fees.
