That time I swore LMI cable was a waste of money on the crane

I used to think running load moment indicators was just extra paperwork for the office guys, but after a near tip-over on a 40-ton lift at the Port of Oakland last spring, I finally saw the data catch a problem before I did. Has anyone else had an LMI save their bacon in a way they didn't expect?

Yeah, I had a 50-ton crawler start leaning hard on a barge job in Seattle back in 2019. The LMI kept screaming at me for a radius change I didn't think was happening, turned out I'd overshot the barge edge by two feet (stupid mistake, really). It caught it before the load shifted, saved me a dunk in the water for sure.

Did you check your outrigger pads before making that first lift?
