A quick chat at the grocery store checkout line changed how I plan meals
I was waiting in line at the Safeway on Oak Street yesterday, and the woman ahead of me had her whole week of dinners planned on a small notepad. She told me she writes down just five meals every Sunday, which takes about 15 minutes. I tried it this morning and already feel less stressed about what to cook. It stopped me from buying random stuff I won't use. Has anyone else tried a simple list like this instead of a big meal plan?

That little notepad trick saved my grocery bill last month.

My friend's husband used to buy weird single ingredients like a jar of capers every trip. She started leaving a notepad on the counter where they could both scribble meal ideas. Now they have a list of three things they both want to eat, and he stopped bringing home random stuff. Their pantry looks normal now.

Totally get that, I started doing a sticky note on the fridge. It stops the whole "what's for dinner" panic at 5 PM.
