My neighbor told me to water my new hydrangeas every single day without fail.
She was so sure about it, said she's done it for 20 years. I did it for a week and the leaves started turning yellow and drooping. Looked it up and found out you're supposed to let the soil dry a bit between waterings. Switched to every three days and they perked right back up. Anyone else have a plant care tip that backfired on them?

Wait, you're supposed to let the soil dry? I always drowned my succulents thinking they needed tons of water. Killed like three before I learned they thrive on neglect. Now I water them maybe once a month and they're doing great.

Yeah, I learned the "thrive on neglect" thing the hard way too, after my first few died from overwatering.

Oh man, I did the same thing with my first aloe plant!
