Solo run vs group ride, group wins for consistency

I used to drive to the trailhead alone every Saturday and force myself through 5 miles. After 6 weeks of that I skipped 3 weekends just cause I wasn't feeling it. Then my buddy invited me to their casual 8am group ride, nothing competitive, just folks chatting and pointing out roots. Now I've gone 9 Saturdays straight without missing one, even in light rain. The difference is I don't have to make the call myself, there's people expecting me and that's enough. Anyone else find that having a set crew keeps them way more on track than solo motivation?

That "people expecting me" part hits hard. My running group has this one guy who always shows up with a thermos of coffee and refuses to start until everyone's had a sip, so now I feel weirdly obligated to be there just for the ritual. Missed one Tuesday and he texted me asking if I was okay, which was both annoying and exactly why I keep coming back.
