Wasted $80 on a meal kit subscription and it was just sad veggies
I signed up for one of those meal kit boxes after seeing a Facebook ad about 'gourmet dinners in 20 minutes'. First box came and it was basically a tiny bag of carrots, a sad lemon, and a packet of seasoning. The recipe called for ingredients I had to buy separate anyway like oil and butter. After three meals the whole thing felt like paying someone to give me a grocery list. I lost $80 total on two boxes and canceled before the third shipped. The vegetables were turning bad by day two which was the worst part. Has anyone else tried these things and actually had a decent experience or am I just terrible at picking them?

Oh man, that sucks big time. I tried one of those once too and got the exact same 'pay me to tell you to buy butter' experience. The veggies going bad by day two is the worst part because you're already annoyed and then you gotta throw half the box away. I feel like these companies are just counting on people feeling too lazy to cancel after the first disappointment. You didn't pick a bad one, they're all kinda the same from what I've heard from friends who tried different brands. The only person I know who actually liked their meal kit was someone who lived in a food desert with zero grocery store options, so it made sense for them. For the rest of us it's basically just paying extra for the illusion of convenience.
