Heard a guy at a parts counter say 'just swap the injector' without checking anything else
I was picking up oil filters yesterday and this guy walks in, says his 6.7 Powerstroke is rough idling. Counter guy says 'swap injector 3 and go'. No codes pulled, no buzz test. That's how you throw $400 at a $20 fuel filter problem. Anyone else see guys skip diag like that all the time?

Learned that lesson the hard way on mine. Swapped a $600 injector just to find out it was a loose connection on the harness all along. Now I always check fuel pressure and do a cylinder contribution test before touching anything.

Gotta admit, I used to be the guy who'd just throw parts at it and hope for the best... thought I was saving time. Then I chased a misfire for three weekends, replaced plugs, coils, even a cam sensor, only to find out it was a cracked ground strap on the battery terminal. Now I force myself to start with a multimeter and a scan tool before buying anything. That $600 injector story of yours really hits home, makes me think twice every time now.
