Just hit 500,000 miles on my old Cummins ISX yesterday

Rolled over half a million on a 2008 Pete 387 I've been wrenching on since day one. The odometer stopped at 499,999 for a second and I honestly thought she was gonna die right there. Anyone else have a high-mileage engine that surprised you with how long it held together?

Half a million on a Cummins? That's impressive but honestly not that rare. Those ISX engines are known to grenade at 700k if you don't replace injectors every 200k. Spent way too much time on a CM870 that started eating turbos at 350k. I'd say you're on borrowed time, not a celebration moment.

Wait until you get a CM2250 that does 800k on nothing but oil changes before you start predicting doom. Half a million on a modern engine isn't "borrowed time" unless you're running it hard and ignoring maintenance. Seems like you got burned by a particular truck and now you're painting everything with the same brush.
