My uncle, a fleet mechanic for 40 years, insisted I use a dab of anti-seize on injector threads, and it saved me from stripping the aluminum head on a 6.7 Powerstroke last month.

He said 'a little goes a long way' and after seeing how clean the old ones came out, I'll never skip that step again, so what's one old-school trick you swear by that the new guys might not know?

You ever think that stuff can cause more problems than it solves? I've seen guys put anti-seize on everything and then torque specs go out the window because it changes the friction. That aluminum head thread might have been fine with just clean, dry threads and a good torque wrench. Now you've got paste that can migrate and clog stuff up. Sometimes the old school way is just overcomplicating a simple job.

Used to slather anti-seize on every bolt without question. Your point about torque specs being for dry threads is a real eye-opener. Might have been overthinking the simple stuff.
