Rant: A fleet manager told me my injector cleaning method was too aggressive

I was cleaning a set of injectors for a 6.7 Powerstroke using my usual ultrasonic bath and a strong solvent mix. The fleet manager for a local delivery company saw my setup and said, 'You're cooking the seals and the plastic guides, they won't last a year.' He showed me the service bulletin from Ford that specifically warns against certain chemicals. I switched to the OEM-approved cleaner and reduced my bath time from 30 minutes to 12. The difference in part wear after 6 months is huge. Has anyone else had to completely change their chemical process after getting called out?

Yeah that fleet guy saved you a major headache. Those OEM bulletins are no joke, they come from people who had to warranty the parts later. Switched to the Ford spec cleaner for my buddy's shop after we saw some Denso injectors get soft. The plastic literally changes color if you cook it too long. Cutting the bath time was smart, it's not about brute force.

You ever try the ultrasonic cleaner with just distilled water and a drop of dish soap? I had a set of injectors that looked wrecked, but that mild mix with a shorter cycle got them spotless without any damage. The fancy chemicals can be too harsh on some of the newer plastics.
