Talking to a fleet manager last week made me rethink how I torque head bolts on 6.7 Powerstrokes

He said he never tightens them past 140 in the final pass because he's seen too many pulled threads at 160 and now I'm wondering if the manual is wrong for daily drivers, has anyone else backed off the spec on these motors?

Yeah but I mean, the engineers who wrote that manual probably tested these things a lot more than one fleet manager. Idk, pulling threads at 160 sounds like maybe there was dirt in the hole or they got carried away with the ugga duggas. I'd stick with the spec and just make sure your threads are clean and dry.

Clean and dry" though? Aren't they supposed to be lightly oiled?
