Appreciation post: Finally stopped overworking my digital paintings after 2 years

I used to spend 8 hours on a single piece layering textures and fixing tiny flaws nobody would ever notice. Last month I timed myself and did a full character portrait in 2.5 hours by just sticking to three brushes and one main layer style. That's a huge shift for me since I started digital art in 2021 with a $50 tablet. Has anyone else had a moment where simplifying actually made your art look better?

Dang, I used to think that was just laziness but you're totally right.

Is it really that deep though, @ray_patel27? I mean people have been calling others lazy for years and life goes on. Sure, maybe sometimes it's a bit more complicated than that, but not every little thing needs a whole breakdown. You're acting like you just uncovered some big secret about human nature. Half the time it's still just someone not wanting to do the dishes, you know? Let's not pretend we're all psychologists now over a basic observation.
