I finally realized my 'backup' internet plan was a total joke after getting locked out of a client call in Chiang Mai
My local SIM card had zero data left, and the cafe's wifi cut out right as the meeting started. What's a reliable, truly independent backup you all use besides just a second SIM?

Pocket wifi saved me in Bangkok last month.

My phone plan gives me free slow data overseas and it was fine for maps and messaging. I can't imagine needing a whole separate device just for wifi.
