Warning: Ditching my big camera made my travel photos improve.

You don't need expensive cameras for good travel photos.

Used to be totally convinced my DSLR was the only way to get good shots on trips. Then I forgot it once and had to use my phone the whole time. Suddenly my photos felt more alive and I wasn't missing moments while changing lenses. It completely shifted how I see travel photography now. Lighter gear lets you connect with the place instead of fussing with settings.

Honestly, my friend went through this exact thing last year. She used to pack this huge camera bag and came back with like ten perfect but stiff shots. Then her camera got stolen right before a trip to Lisbon, so she just used her phone. Tbh the photos she showed me were full of little laughs and street scenes she would have missed before. It totally changed her mind about needing all that gear to capture a place.

Man, I had the same thing happen. Switched to just my phone last trip and caught so many more spontaneous moments. Didn't have to fuss with lenses or settings, just pointed and shot. Photos felt more real, less staged.
