Heard a bike shop guy say something that changed my brake bleeding approach
Was dropping off a wheel at a shop in Boise and overheard the mechanic tell someone that most brake bleeds fail because people don't tap the caliper to get bubbles loose, they just pump and hope. Tried it on my old Shimano setup last weekend, gave the caliper a few firm taps with a screwdriver handle after each syringe pull, and the lever went from spongy to solid in about 20 minutes. I've bled brakes maybe 10 times before and always chased air pockets forever, this was way more direct. Anyone else do the tap trick or have another weird habit that makes bleeding simpler?
