My tomato plant grew a pepper looking blob, and it turned into a whole problem
So last Tuesday I was out back in my garden in Boise checking on my Better Boy tomatoes and found this weird lumpy growth on one of them, kind of like a pepper but all bumpy and green. I figured it was some nutrient thing, so I cut it open and the inside was hollow with these little seed clusters that did not look normal at all, and I freaked out and tossed it in the trash. Then I did some digging online and found out it might just be fasciation from a cold snap we had, but now I'm paranoid about the rest of the plant. Has anyone here seen a tomato go all lumpy like that, and did the rest of your crop turn out okay?
My Roma plant did something similar after we got a weird cold week back in May, and what helped me was just watching the new growth for a bit instead of panicking. The lumpy fruit was the only one that came out strange, and the rest of the tomatoes on the plant ripened up normal and tasted fine all season. Keep an eye on any new flowers and toss anything that looks off, but the plant itself is probably okay.
