EVA foam from Harbor Freight surprised me after years of avoiding it

I always figured the cheap foam mats were too soft for armor, but I grabbed a 4 pack on a whim last month. Sanded and heat sealed, it holds edges just as well as the brand name stuff I was buying online. Anyone else tested the budget foam for helmet bases?

That 4 pack saved my wallet after I blew $60 on a single sheet of the fancy stuff for my last helmet. Turns out the cheap mats just need a bit of patience with the heat gun, and they behave like a stubborn puppy that finally listens. Guess my ego was the real thing holding back the budget foam, not the foam itself.
