I finally visited a Habitat for Humanity ReStore and now I'm conflicted about buying new lumber

Stopped by the one in Portland last weekend and saw a stack of solid oak 2x4s for $2 each, but half of them had hidden nail holes or water damage. Is the gamble worth the savings or should I just pay full price at the big box store for guaranteed clean wood?

Dude same! I grabbed a bunch of what looked like perfect 2x4s from my local Restore and ended up tossing half of them cause they were warped or full of rusted staples.

Restore lumber: where "straight" is just a suggestion.

Wait, did you at least check them at the store before buying? Ngl, that's rough though.
