I read a blog where a builder argued you should always use 3 inch deck screws for framing, but my neighbor swears by 5 inch. Which is actually better?

My contractor buddy says it depends on the lumber thickness.

Check the building code for your area, they usually list the exact spacing for different lumber sizes.
