Paint started bubbling 2 weeks after I used primer from a rusty can

Finished my basement bathroom in March, used a gallon of Kilz that had been sitting in my shed since fall. Looked perfect for 5 days, then little bubbles showed up along the bottom edge near the shower. By day 10, it was peeling in sheets and the drywall underneath was soft. I didn't check the can for rust inside the rim, that's my fault, but has anyone else gotten burned by old primer that looked fine from the outside?

Used to swear by old Kilz, but this changed my mind. Rust is no joke.
