Honestly, I installed a smart thermostat 3 years ago in my Austin place and fought with the app every single month. Last week I finally put in a $40 basic programmable model and it just works. The smart one kept dropping wifi and making wild temperature swings that cost me an extra $60 on my August bill. People in this group always rave about learning schedules and remote control, but I never used half of that after the first month. Sometimes simpler hardware means fewer things to break or confuse you. Has anyone else gone backward on home tech and felt relieved instead of annoyed?
