Trying to build a simple planter box turned into a three day mess
Last Tuesday I decided to make a 2 foot by 4 foot cedar planter for my patio. I measured wrong on the first cut, so I had to go back to the hardware store for more wood. Then I used the wrong type of exterior screw and split half the boards. Has anyone else had a simple project spiral like this? What's your best tip for getting back on track?

Ugh, did you at least get the right screws the second time?

Oh man, @kai602, I wish it was that simple. The second trip was for washers, because I forgot those entirely. Then a third trip because the first pack of screws were too short. It's always a three-part journey with hardware stores. Why is it impossible to get all the bits in one go?
