Rant: Used to freehand all my cuts with a jigsaw, now I can't live without a track saw
Last Tuesday I was building a set of floating shelves and realized I haven't touched my jigsaw for a straight cut in over 6 months. Used to just clamp a straight edge and hope for the best, but after I picked up a used Makita track saw at a pawn shop for $80, it was a total game changer. The first cut I made on a 4x8 sheet of plywood was dead straight and I literally laughed at how much time I wasted before. Has anyone else switched to track saws and find yourself avoiding your circular saw for everything now?

Used to think track saws were overpriced and overrated, but after borrowing one I had to eat my words.

Man, preach. That first absolute perfect cut on a track saw is almost a religious experience. I hated wrestling with a circular saw and a clamped guide, it always drifted on me at the worst moment. Now my circular saw just sits in the corner feeling jealous and I never take it out for sheet goods. It is the single best upgrade I have made in my shop, hands down.
