My press platens were 4 degrees off for a year

I was getting thin spots on every record I pressed, especially near the outer edge. Last week I finally put a temp probe on both platens during a run and found the top one sitting at 138 while the bottom was at 134, my heater controller in Boise has been drifting. I re-calibrated the thermocouple and tightened the mounting screws, first press after came out clean. Has anyone else had a platen that reads right but actually runs cold on one side?

Shit, my buddy had the same damn issue with his old press, turned out to be a loose wire in the heater relay.
