Can we talk about the 100-item challenge and whether it's actually worth it?

Has anyone else hit a milestone number like this and realized their pile of wins is a lot smaller than their pile of glue gun mistakes? Maybe I'm overthinking it, but I'd rather know if other folks cap their budget per project or just keep grabbing stuff until the cart is full.
