Unpopular opinion: the dollar store picture hangers beat the hardware store ones after my wall in Tulsa let go
Last spring a framed print over my desk came off the wall around 2am. The drywall here is old and crumbly and the fancy anchor I paid $6 for just pulled straight through. I was mad enough that I tried the 4-pack of hangers from the dollar store instead, the ones with the little plastic hook and two nails. Six months in, nothing has moved, even the heavy frame. My take is the cheap ones work better here because the two nails spread the load instead of one big hole. Now I keep a pack in the junk drawer. Does anyone have a better trick for hanging stuff on crumbly old plaster walls?
