The old timer who told me to stop eye-balling my dimensions was right

A retired machinist at the shop in Dayton watched me lay out a bracket by sight for the fifth time and said 'you will redo that three times before lunch,' and after the second redo I finally pulled out the calipers, so has anyone else had to eat crow on advice that should have been obvious?

honestly the calipers dont lie but good eyeballs are still faster until they aint lol
