One Tuesday I had to tear out a whole ceiling I just hung and it was actually a blessing

I was mudding a basement last week in a house over on Elm Street and the homeowner came down halfway through saying the lights were too low. I had hung the whole ceiling at standard 8 feet but he wanted 7 foot 6 for some theater feel. So I ripped all 12 sheets down and rehung them lower, took me an extra 8 hours. But then I noticed the old joists had a bunch of water damage I would have missed if I kept going. Ended up fixing that and the homeowner paid me an extra $400 for the trouble. Has anyone else had a job where a redo saved your butt down the line?

Man that "blessing" line really hits home (no pun intended), I had a similar thing happen on a kitchen tile job where I had to rip out a floor I just laid because the homeowner changed their mind on the grout color. Turned out there was a hidden leak under the subfloor that would have rotted everything out in a year, so that extra day of cursing saved me a massive callback. Funny how the universe works sometimes, making you do the same work twice for a totally different reason.
