Can we talk about the time my whole dinner plan changed at the grocery store in Springfield?
I was at the meat counter last Thursday, ready to grab my usual chicken breasts for a stir fry, when the worker told me they were completely out of everything but whole chickens. I ended up grabbing one and just roasting it with some potatoes and carrots, which was way easier than I thought. Has anyone else had to switch up their whole meal because the store was out of something basic?

That happens to me all the time. I read a blog post once where the writer said they plan meals around what looks good at the store, not a list. It made sense. You just grab what is fresh or on sale and figure it out. Roasting a whole chicken is a solid move. It feels like a win when the backup plan turns out better than the original idea.

You're right about the backup plan feeling like a win, @riley_coleman. It makes me wonder if we put too much pressure on the first idea. Letting go of a strict list and working with what's good that day is a skill. It applies to more than just food, it's about being flexible in general. That chicken dinner is proof that a little improv can lead to the best results.
