My grandma's old 'soup jar' trick finally clicked for me

For months, I was stuck making the same three pasta dishes because chopping veggies after work felt like a chore (you know how it is). Then I remembered my grandma in Toledo always had a jar of 'soup starter' in her fridge, which was just diced onions, carrots, and celery. I tried it last Sunday, prepping a big batch for the week. Now when I get home, I just grab a scoop from the jar to start any sauce or stir-fry, and dinner is ready in about 20 minutes. Does anyone else have a simple prep trick that saves them on a Tuesday night?

My grandma in Akron did the same thing with a big bowl of sofrito. It's a total game changer for weeknight cooking.

Discovered this works for stew bases too, just adjust the liquid ratio.
