My mom insisted a slow cooker was pointless for a quick dinner, but after a hectic Tuesday last month, I finally tried her 'dump and go' chili recipe (it took 8 minutes to prep) and we ate at 6:15 sharp.
So, for anyone else who's been skeptical, what's your favorite truly fast slow cooker recipe (you know, the kind you can actually throw together after work)?

And is that 8 minutes of prep realistic, or does it include stuff like opening cans and measuring spices? I say that because my "quick" recipes always end up taking me twice as long as the website claims. What's the actual longest step in that chili recipe of hers, because I bet it's chopping the onion or something.
