My oven died on a Tuesday and a $12 toaster oven saved dinner for 4 nights
My oven gave out last Tuesday right as I was about to throw a tray of chicken thighs in, and the repair guy quoted me $280 just to come look at it. I almost ordered pizza three nights in a row, but then I remembered the cheap toaster oven sitting in the back of my closet from my old apartment. I ended up cooking chicken, roasted veggies, and even a tiny meatloaf in that thing, and honestly the thighs came out better than my big oven ever did. The whole setup sits on my counter now and I have used it every single night this week. My wife thinks I am nuts for not just fixing the oven, but I am not in a hurry anymore. Anyone else switch to a small countertop oven on purpose, and did you ever go back to the big one?
Managed to burn toast in mine twice before I figured out the dial wasn't in Celsius or whatever my dumb brain assumed. If your wife thinks you're nuts now just wait til she catches you googling tiny casserole dishes at 11pm like I did.
