Unpopular opinion: stop trying to make "30 minute meals" that take 45 minutes
I swear every recipe blog out there lies about cook times. I tried one last Tuesday for "20 minute chili" and it took me 45 minutes even with a can of beans and prechopped onion. The prep time never includes washing the cutting board or digging the lid off the tomato paste. And they always say "meanwhile toast the cumin" but if I only have one skillet I cannot toast anything meanwhile. It makes me feel like I'm slow in the kitchen but I'm not. Has anyone else timed these recipes and found them off by like 15 minutes every single time?
