TIL you can strip old paint with a heat gun and a plastic scraper in half the time of chemicals
Picked up a cheap heat gun from Canadian Tire for $30. Thought it would be a disaster on my 1950s baseboards in my Inglewood bungalow. Worked way faster than the paint stripper I was using before, and no harsh fumes. Only catch is if you hold it too long you'll scorch the wood like I did the first 10 minutes. Anyone else switch to heat over chemicals for old Edmonton houses?

Yeah I used to swear by chemical strippers but this heat method totally changed my mind too.

Picked up that same Canadian Tire heat gun for my 1950s trim in a Capilano house. Scorched a few spots too before I figured out you gotta keep the gun moving constantly, almost like spray painting. Once you get the hang of it, the old lead paint peels off like butter without that chemical smell in the house.
