Vinyl plank vs laminate in a wet basement suite

Ripped up old carpet in my Edmonton basement suite after a minor flood last March. Had to pick between vinyl plank and laminate for the reno. I went with vinyl plank because it handles moisture way better and the install was easier for a DIY guy. Four months in and no swelling or gaps even near the bathroom. Anyone else run vinyl plank in their basement or did you go laminate instead?
