Been trimming wires with diagonal cutters for 8 years until a foreman showed me what I was doing wrong
I always used the wire cutter notch on my linesman pliers to strip 12 gauge. Last Tuesday a foreman pointed out I was nicking the copper every time, making a weak point (and probably causing callbacks). He showed me to use the cutter at the pivot point instead. Has anyone else had a basic habit like that suddenly get called out after years?

Man, that hits close to home. I spent years stripping wire with the wrong notch on my cutters too. Foreman caught it during a rough-in and showed me the pivot trick. Total game changer. Felt dumb but also relieved I wasn't the only one.

The pivot trick saves so much time once you get it down.
