I thought those new smart breakers were just a gimmick until my boss put them in a custom home

We wired a big house in Scottsdale last year and the owner insisted on a full smart panel. I figured it was just for show, but after seeing it track energy use for each circuit and send alerts for small faults, I get it. It caught a fridge compressor drawing too much power before it failed. Anyone else had a tool or product they were wrong about?

Happens all the time with tech that seems like a luxury. We get used to things just working until they break, then a smart fix looks genius. It's the same with my home water monitor, seemed silly until it found a tiny leak. Turns out a lot of "nice to have" stuff is really just buying yourself a warning.

How many times have we all skipped on something like that? You're totally right, hill.mila, it's just insurance you don't realize you need. Feels like a waste until the moment it saves you a huge headache.

Honestly, I still think most of that stuff is overkill for a normal house. @hill.mila, your water monitor example is fair, but a smart panel feels like fixing a problem that doesn't exist for most people. My old breaker box has worked fine for 30 years without sending me a single text. It's just more tech that can break and needs updates.
