Just realized spending $150 on a fluke meter was worth it after one job

I tried using a cheap $30 meter from Amazon for months and kept getting weird readings. Last week I did a service call near Portland where the voltage was bouncing all over. My cheap meter said 115V but the fluke showed 120V steady and saved me from chasing a phantom issue. Anyone else see a big difference when they finally upgraded their meter?

Oh man the bouncing voltage thing is exactly what got me too. My old cheap meter was all over the place and I wasted a whole afternoon on a call near Salem where I was sure there was some intermittent issue. Swapped to a Fluke and it was rock solid. Totally feel you on that.

Read an article saying cheap meters can have like 50mV of noise on DC that just disappears with a decent one. Night and day difference for trouble-shooting stuff like that.
